How we started Chikara fitness

Our founder James “The Iron Cowboy” Lawrence has captivated millions of people over the past five years with his logic-defying “Fifty.”  James has had the opportunity to build an amazing community over the years and one of his most asked questions was “I want to work out with you, but I’m not interested in Triathlon.”  James took that to heart and wanted to reach out to a greater audience by creating a fitness app.  He has teamed up with some of the best industry-leading experts to create a better, larger community that everyone can be part of.

Felisha

Felisha uses complex dumbbell training to help people consistently improve themselves over the long term. Her regular motivating phrase is, “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!” Felisha wants you to be challenged but also to feel accomplished by crushing each Level of workouts.

”My biggest achievement is being a mom to 5 amazing kids. I have always loved fitness and being in front of a crowd, it just took a back seat for a while. My kids are my focus in life but along the way I’ve accomplished some amazing things, I have been a Nationally Licensed Massage Therapist so healing, movement, stretching is key to creating a life around fitness. I am a Certified Group X Fitness Trainer, certified in many formats, my most common is HIIT and weights. I love to focus on FORM over anything else. If you can set the base of your movement, strength, power, intensity will come with time and consistency of the work output.”

Kate

“Although by social standards I was never considered overweight, I never felt confident or sexy in my own skin for the majority of my young adult life.  Heck, I didn’t wear shorts until I was 30 and had made fitness and nutrition an instrumental part of my life. And now I’m a nationally ranked NPC Bikini Competitor. For years I thought I had to suffer through no carb diets, 2-a-day cardio sessions, and hours in the gym to get the body I desired. I was wrong. I learned a lot of lessons over the years and now I feel a calling to help others take back control of their health, wellness, and confidence. You deserve to look in the mirror and be proud of the body and person looking back. The physical benefits are great because you can actually SEE them as they occur, but the mental boost you will receive is unlike any feeling I can describe until you experience it for yourself. I’ve had many rough patches in my life, the most recent being the loss of my two best friends, my parents, to cancer within the span of one year (to the day).  The one constant that remained throughout that whole period, besides caring for them, obviously, was devoting one hour a day to myself to workout, in addition to adhering to a healthy meal plan.  If I didn’t care for myself, how was I to care for the two most important people in my life when they needed me the most? The same goes for you. Who in your life is relying on you to show up, as your best self every day? Your spouse? Your kids? Your grandkids?  So what are you waiting for? If you’re committed to taking back control of your health, I’m here to lead you and show you HOW to get started on this life-changing, life-improving, life-fulfilling journey.”
